LEGO RISE Program: Robotics, Innovation, Skills, and Engineering!
There are three main components of the LEGO RISE Program:
LEGO Robot Programming: Students will work with their teammates to learn how to code using SPIKE technology. We will cover basic coding skills, as well as sensors and other more advanced concepts. Each team will work to complete 3 different coding challenges, which will earn them points and the chance to win awards at the LEGO RISE Festival.
Engineering Models: Each team of five students is assigned a field of engineering (such as biomedical, mechanical, civil, etc) and will build a LEGO model about that field. This process will help students learn about their assigned field, and what those engineers do. All participants will get a basic overview of several fields, but will focus on one as a team.
Team Building and Values: The program is designed to encourage teamwork and communication. Each day we will discuss teamwork skills, and review five values essential for working with other people. We will do team building activities that help students to develop their teamwork abilities. At the end of the season, each team will have to present their team poster and model to a set of reviewers. We will practice basic communication and presentation skills.

Parents are required to stay for the duration of the program.
There is a registration fee of $20 that you will have to pay when you register your child. If you have any trouble paying this fee, email foundation@wolcottrobotics.org.
We use Google Groups to communicate with parents. We ask that if you register, you check your email regularly for program updates and reminders.
Once students are too old for the LEGO RISE Program, they can join the FIRST Tech Challenge Program.
Students are required to attend the Wolcott Public Schools to register for the LEGO RISE Program. Parents of students outside of the Wolcott Public Schools are welcome to create their own teams and can email ymacary@wolcottrobotics.org for more information.
Wolcott Robotics Foundation members will send info about fundraising efforts via email, so if you'd like to help support our cause please keep a lookout.
We understand that students may have to miss a session or two, however, we expect students to make as many sessions as possible, if not all of them. Students will be working as a team and the program is cumulative. The program is less beneficial to students who miss sessions often.
The LEGO RISE Festival allows students to showcase their work along with teams from across Connecticut. The Festival will be on May 8th, in Vernon, CT.
